“Source Reduction is to garbage what preventive medicine is to health.”

- William Rathje

Recycling is often portrayed within environmentalist literature as integral to the conception of an alternative society founded on small-scale community based industries and commune type human settlements. But, time has now arrived, when urbanized societies need to be more measured.

We are tampering with the Mother Nature at our peril. We all are somewhere aware of the obliterating outcomes to the surroundings. Still we don’t wish to step back and ponder over this a little. Trees are being cut in plenitude from all around the globe to comply with the proliferating demands of paper. This has affected the ecosystem in an articulate way, making us recidivist in the eyes of nature. Be it global warming or ozone-layer depletion, we are the ones who are in the red ink. This issue can’t be marginalized.

Having witnessed the anti-effects, we, the students of ChESA [Chemical Engineering Students’ Association] are coming up with an initiative to redirect the flow of waste paper being dumped. Normally in the offices, institutions, universities, printing press, the misprinted papers go to trash. The number of such papers is huge. Imagine how many trees are being emaciated in this way. Prolific results can be achieved if we collect those one-side blank pages for proper utilization.

What we’ll be doing is that we’ll be binding those pages to a 100-page notebook and distributing them to the underprivileged children. So, we’ll be recycling not only to protect the environment, but for economic and social reasons as well.

Support of each one of you will be appreciated in this endevour. You just need to drop as many as possible 2-side or 1-side blank pages at the addresses mentioned below. This is a very simpleton task for us and your little contribution can make a lot of difference. This whole task will be managed entirely by the first-year students.
